Avoid brain clutter

One of the best ways to increase your ability to think clearly is to avoid clutter in your physical space. Whether you’re at home or at work, having a clean and organized environment can help you focus on the task at hand.

Smoking doesn’t just affect your health; it also affects your mind. The habit of smoking can create brain clutter that keeps you from thinking clearly. Smoking is an addiction that tricks your brain into thinking that it needs nicotine, even though this isn’t true.

Studies have shown that smokers are rarely able to concentrate for very long without feeling an urge to light up. The next time you feel yourself needing a cigarette, try these tips instead of giving in: Take a walk outside or around the block. Sometimes the fresh air will be enough to clear your mind and help you think more clearly.

Drink some water or coffee instead of smoking. Even if this doesn’t give you enough energy to concentrate on the task at hand, it will help kick your nicotine addiction for a few hours. Have a snack or take a short nap. Sometimes sugar or caffeine is all you need to refocus your attention on the task at hand instead of smoking.
